There’s something special when you get to photograph your little cousin getting proposed to.
When I was young, I didn’t think about the future. I didn’t know I would be a photographer one day. And I didn’t know I would be a part of planning beautiful proposals like this. But here we are.
Molly is near and dear to my heart. So, I didn’t hesitate when Andrew reached out to me to capture this significant moment. I got to Coronado Beach early and walked down by the water. I listened to the song Souvenirs by Switchfoot in my earbuds to get in the zone. This song is especially sentimental to Molly and I, as we sung it together at my brother Josiah’s funeral. The emotions immediately came flooding back to me. I was now focused.
That’s when I saw Molly and Andrew make their way down to the water. Andrew saw me and took a quick left turn away from me. He put his jacket over Molly and kept walking. Molly had no idea what was about to happen. Very suddenly after, he took off the jacket and bent down on one knee in one motion. I was still a long way from getting the shots I wanted. But I sprinted in and began to capture this historic moment. She said yes!
